Chasing the Bird

I would say that I am a fairly laid back kind of guy. I’m more of the opinion that things will happen the way they are supposed to, and it will all work out in the end. I wouldn’t necessarily call this complacency or laziness. I just choose to pick my battles. Having 4 children, I’ve learned this is a very effective way of dealing with only the most important issues.

Well that philosophy has trickled over to my business (the store behind the blog you are reading). You see in the last 2.5 years, I’ve grown from just selling 1 brand to about 14. All of these brands I have sought out myself. I saw something in these brands that drew me to them. They are great brands and under-represented in my local market.

There has been plenty of rejection also. I probably have been rejected by 2 times the number of brands than I carry now. When I’ve been told NO, I kind of revert back to my parenting status and wonder if the battle is really worth fighting and going after. I typically don’t fight. After all, it was probably for the best anyway.

So, why am I telling you this?

logo_oiselleThere’s a brand out there that I want. I want them bad. Probably more than any other brand I’ve wanted before. The brand is very similar to what I have going on. They are/were the underdog. Their client base and ambassadors are everyday type people. Not Super Models. Normal people that like to compete on a higher level than the average population. I’m talking about the lovely bird that is Oiselle.

Now, this is definitely not a post to condemn them for not selecting me or something that is out of anger. I totally respect that businesses can pick and choose who they want to work with. After all, that’s.. well… business. However, I am very confident that I can do great things with this brand. Obviously I’m not going to do great things in the way of PR’ing as they only make women’s clothing, but I’m talking about promoting their brand and selling it to my loyal clients.

So, now I have found a battle that I feel is worth fighting. A brand I can relate to. A brand I feel is worth fighting for. So, if you would like to see this lovely brand in my store and would like to help be get them on board. I would just like you to share this post with as many people as you can. Tweet it, Facebook it, whatever it. Just spread the word… a lot. For those of you that are Hashtag savvy, I think we’ll try the social media rally cry of #GiveTIOTRtheBIRD.

So, go forth loyal readers and do me a solid. Please. Ladies, I need you on this one. Dudes, your wife/girlfriend likes this brand. So, don’t worry it’s the macho thing to do.
